Acupuncture Support for IVF and IUI in Orlando

Going through IVF or IUI is one of the most emotionally and physically demanding experiences a person can face. The injections, the appointments, the waiting, the hoping — and the uncertainty. At Yin Acupuncture in Orlando, we work alongside your fertility team to give you every possible advantage on your path to parenthood.

Dr. Yin has more than 25 years of experience supporting patients through assisted reproductive technology (ART) with targeted acupuncture protocols designed to improve your body’s readiness for treatment and enhance outcomes. Whether you are preparing for your first IVF cycle or trying again after a previous loss, we are here to help.

What the Research Shows

The relationship between acupuncture and IVF outcomes has been studied extensively. Multiple randomized controlled trials and meta-analyses have found that acupuncture performed on the day of embryo transfer — both before and after transfer — is associated with improved implantation rates and clinical pregnancy rates. A 2002 landmark study in Fertility and Sterility showed a statistically significant improvement in pregnancy rates among women who received acupuncture on transfer day compared to controls.

Beyond transfer day, research supports acupuncture’s role in improving ovarian response to stimulation medications, reducing the side effects of fertility drugs, improving uterine lining thickness and blood flow, and managing the anxiety and depression that frequently accompany IVF treatment.

Our IVF and IUI Support Protocol

Dr. Yin customizes your treatment protocol based on your specific diagnosis, medical history, and treatment schedule. A typical IVF support protocol at our Orlando clinic includes:

  • Pre-stimulation (4–8 weeks before retrieval): Weekly sessions to improve ovarian reserve, blood flow to the reproductive organs, and your overall constitution. We address any underlying imbalances identified through TCM diagnosis.
  • Stimulation phase: Targeted sessions to support healthy follicle development and reduce bloating, mood swings, and other stimulation side effects.
  • Egg retrieval support: Pre-retrieval session to calm the nervous system and optimize conditions for retrieval.
  • Transfer day: Acupuncture session before and after embryo transfer — the most evidence-supported window for improving implantation outcomes.
  • Post-transfer / two-week wait: Session(s) during the two-week wait to support implantation, reduce anxiety, and support early pregnancy.

For IUI cycles, we provide support during the follicular phase to improve egg quality and uterine receptivity, with a session on or near insemination day.

Working with Your Fertility Doctor

Dr. Yin is experienced in collaborating with reproductive endocrinologists and fertility clinics throughout the Orlando area, including patients from IVF Florida, Conceptions Florida, CCRM, and other local practices. She will review your treatment protocol and coordinate her approach to ensure acupuncture complements — never conflicts with — your medical care.

We are happy to communicate directly with your fertility doctor or provide a summary of your acupuncture treatment upon request.

Beyond the Physical: Emotional Support During IVF

One of the most consistent and immediate benefits our IVF patients notice is reduced anxiety. The acupuncture sessions become a sanctuary in the middle of a stressful process — a time to breathe, to release, and to feel cared for. Managing stress during IVF is not just about wellbeing; elevated cortisol has been shown to negatively impact implantation rates, making anxiety management a clinical priority, not just a nice-to-have.
